Another Open Dutch Championship 500 Podium for Lars Van Berkel At Boekel

Lars van Berkel of the Husqvarna SKS Racing NL team scored another podium finish at the second round of the Open Dutch Championship 500 at Boekel. He was involved in a  pitched battle for second place in the first race, but could not find a passing opportunity, and had to settle for third. In the second race, he had a good rhythm, and looked as if he might take the overall win, but the race was red-flagged, which dropped him form a potential first to third overall.

The track at Boekel was still frozen and treacherous during morning training. Lars rode carefully, yet still managed to secure pole position. In race one, he joined proceedings in fourth place. The race was virtually immediately red-flagged, and a restart followed. Another top five start gave Lars a strong platform. He worked his way to third, and exerted pressure on the second placed rider, but just could not make the pass, eventually finishing third.

Lars immediately settled into third spot at the start of race two. This time, he was in second position before long, and challenged for the race lead, which would also have given him overall victory. The race was however red flagged halfway through it's normal distance, and Lars was flagged as second in the race, and third overall.

"My riding went well, especially in the second race," he said. "My preparations have gone well, and I'm confident going into the Dutch Masters of Motocross series." That series kicks off next weekend at Markelo.
