NIGHT of the JUMPs Swiss and German rounds Postponed until 2021

It is with heartfelt disappointment from the NIGHT of the JUMPs team, to announce after trying everything with our local partners in both Switzerland and Germany, the revised 2020 World Tour Championship which was scheduled to begin in Basel on September 5th, will now have to be postponed until 2021.

Since February, NIGHT of the JUMPs have continually worked with our global partners to plan for all outcomes which could arise from the Covid-19 virus shutdowns, quarantines and other plans to help slow the spread.

The 2020 Basel round of NIGHT of the JUMPs would have been the rescheduled start of the official Freestyle Motocross World Tour Championship, creating the opportunity for Switzerland to host the opening round of the World Championship series for the first time ever in NIGHT of the JUMPs 20 years of hosting the series.

Together with our local Swiss Partner, we are pleased to announce the event has been postponed to potentially a much safer time, in September 25th 2021 which allows for the world to try and breathe and hope that the Corona Virus has declined in infection rates, and to allow for safer protocols to allow for live events to return in Switzerland.

NIGHT of the JUMPs were then planning to host the next two rounds of competition on German soil, which now have also been officially postponed.  The Freestyle of Nations event scheduled for Cologne on October 10 has now been postponed and the new date will be officially released in the coming weeks.  Cologne is held every two years inside the Lanxess Arena, alongside the huge Intermot motorcycle expo.

The final German round of competition for 2020 was to be held in Munich on November 1st, however this event has now been postponed to the new date of March 13th, 2021.  Which could potentially become the first round of NIGHT of the JUMPs competition in Season 2021.

NIGHT of the JUMPs were incredibly fortunate to have held the first event of the season in Germany’s capital, Berlin, with a two-day event on February 21/22, where 3 of the best national and world teams competed in the Freestyle of Nations competition inside the Mercedes-Benz Arena.

During the Corona-lockdown of events, we are incredibly pleased to see our Freestyle Motocross stars from Europe, to North and South America, Oceania, Asia and Africa, continuing to push the progression of the sport while training at home.  Although some dates have had to be postponed, it is the dedication to their craft and the competitive nature which still shows that the World Tour Championship at NIGHT of the JUMPs will be more alive and well once the first round kicks off again.

While the riders from around the world are continuing to train on their motocross bikes, NIGHT of the JUMPs are incredibly close to releasing the first ever eSport series, with 16 riders from every inhabited continent on earth, to compete in the e-FMX World Championship series which is played on the brand new Mobile Game, TiMX : This is Motocross.

From Australia, big names such as Josh Sheehan and Pat Bowden, will be going up against Europe’s finest of Edgar Torronteras and Maikel Melero, to North America’s Adam Jones and Colby Raha, and South America’s Fred Kyrillos and Javier Villegas.  Not to mention Asia’s Taka Higashino and Africa’s Dallan Goldman, among the full 16 rider list.

Since we had anticipated to celebrate our 20th Anniversary of Freestyle Motocross competitions in a much different way, we are much more concerned that all of our fans around the world are able to stay safe during this extraordinary time and we look forward to seeing everyone again to witness the craziness which is our sport.  Until then, our fans will be able to keep up to date through our social media channels, and watch the riders compete in virtual reality instead.
