Lars van Berkel of the Husqvarna SKS Racing NL team finished second at the Open Dutch Championship 500 in Lelystad. Van Berkel started his race day off well with a second spot in qualifying. In the first race he had some setback when an early crash dropped him way down the field. He battled through the packed field to finish third. He got right on to the back wheel of the second placed rider, but time ran out to make another pass.
In the second race, Lars bulleted his Husqvarna FC450 off the start into the lead. He kept the lead for most of the race, but to his disappointment dropped to second in the very last lap.
Boyd van der Voorn qualified fifth in the 250 class. His electric starter let him down at the start of race one, and he was way last going into the first corner. He battled his way from a huge deficit to 23rd. Still carrying his shoulder injury from the week before, he had a much better second heat and finished 12th.
Rick Wennekes just missed qualifying for the A final in the 250 class. He finished seventh and fifth in the B final.
Danny van den Bosse qualified seventh in the 85cc class. He slotted into an initial third spot in race one. A crash robbed him of valuable positions and he finished 11th. He started in the top ten in race two and kept it steady to finish tenth. This gave him 11th overall for the day.
The team will set off to Axel next weekend for the second round of the Dutch Masters of Motocross.
