2019 EICMA INTERNATIONAL MOTOCROSS ITALY SERIES - Round#2

The Internazionali d’ItaliaEICMA Series 2019 have their dominator and his name is Tony Cairoli (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team). The nine-time World Champion won again the MX1 and Supercampione moto of the second round of the season, extending the lead in both classes with a perfect score. The circuit of Ottobiano Motorsport hosted the second round of the championship, on a very muddy track, welcoming over 200 riders with cold temperatures and a lot of water as water and snow, making the sandy surface tricky and very technical.

In the Supercampione race Mikkel Haarup (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing) started incredibly ahead, winning the EICMA hole-shot award in front of Cairoli, who passed him after a few corners, followed closely by Tim Gajser (Honda HRC ). The two pulled the gap, followed remotely by the Danish and Jorge Prado (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team), both riding 250cc bikes, while Romain Febvre (Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing) tried to comeback after a difficult start. The twist of the race arrives at the tenth out of thirteen laps of the race, when Gajser passes Cairoli, which passed back after two laps, going to win with three seconds on the Slovenian. Third under the checkered flag was Jorge Prado, who replicates the result of Riola, while fourth was Febvre, ahead of Haarup. Cairoli leads the championship standings with 240 points, ahead of Gajser with 200 and Prado with 160.

Intense and thrilling race in MX1, with Romain Febvre, who started in front of everyone from the third gate, winning the EICMA hole-shot award, preceding at the first corner, Tim Gajser (Honda HRC), author of the 24MX Pole Position Award and Tony Cairoli. The leading duo quickly went away, while Cairoli lost a position to Brian Boogers (Honda HRC), seeming slightly difficult, due to the flu in which it pours since the beginning of the week. On the seventh lap Gajser attacks Febvre and passes, while Cairoli, third, begins to bring down the lap times, returning quickly close to the lead. The Cairoli attack arrives at the ninth lap, and in two laps the Sicilian takes the lead of the race, going to cross the finish line in front of Febvre and Gajser, with Gautier Paulin (Monster Energy Wilvo MXGP) and Tannel Leok (A1M Husqvarna) fourth and fifth. In the standings Cairoli leads with 240 points on Febvre (200), Gajser (160), Paulin (130) and Leok (115).

In MX2 the World Champion Jorge Prado (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team), after the victory claimed in Sardinia seven days ago, easily wins the Ottobiano race. The Spaniard, sixth at the starting gate, wins the EICMA hole-shot award, fleeing from the first lap, ahead of Calvin Vlaanderen (Honda HRC) and Maxime Renaux (SM Action Yamaha), winner of the 24MX Pole Position Award. The two fight for all thirteen laps during the race, exchanging positions twice, then cutting the finish line in the same order in which they had passed on the finish line of the first pass. Behind them, excellent ride for the reigning champion of the Internazionali, Michele Cervellin (SM Action Yamaha), fourth, which precedes the British Ben Watson (Kemea Yamaha), fifth under the checkered flag. In the standings Prado leads with 240 points, ahead of the Danish Mikkel Haarup at 150 and Michele Cervellin with 125 points.

The red plate of the 125 class changes ownership and passes into the hands of Florient Miot (Yamaha MJC), which reaches 730 points. However is the German Simon Langenfelder (WZ Racing KTM) who won both races on the sand of Ottobiano, climbing on the first step of the podium, in front of the French Miot, second and of Andrea Bonacorsi (Celestini KTM Junior Team) third.

It was another great success for Live Streaming, which saw more than 150,000 spectators, following the second round and allow the video to end once again among the Italian trends of YouTube.

Appointment in Mantova in seven days for the third and final round of the Internazionali d’Italia on the sandy track of Tazio Nuvolari.
