Lars van Berkel of the Husqvarna SKS Racing NL team added handsomely to his points total during the second round of the Dutch Masters of Motocross at Axel. The Veghel native recovered to 11th after an initial crash in race one, and backed that up with an 8th in the second race for ninth overall.

After a solid qualifying session, Van Berkel launched off well in race one to join the leading group. "Unfortunately, I slid out in the first corner, which meant I had to come back from way last. I had a good rhythm, and managed to get to 11th," he said.

Another good start in race two was again spoiled somewhat by him being forced wide. He recovered from a position just outside the top ten." I wanted to pass Roy Van Heugten, but lost control over a braking bump and lost the connection to the group. I battled to recover my rhythm, but still got back to 8th, which I was happy with," he said.

For Danny van den Bosse this was a home race. He qualified ninth, but a bad start gave him some work in race one. He worked his way up to sixth, but a late crash cost him four spots, with him eventually finishing tenth. A first corner crash in race two saw him at the very back of the pack, but he recovered to 20th, for 16th overall on the day.

Boyd van der Voorn came into the event with a handicap in the form of a shoulder injury. He bit through the pain to finish his first race, but decided to sit out the second.

The championship continues at Rhenen on Thursday 30 May.
