Top Three Spot For Beaton, Strong MX2 Debut For De Wolf at Hawkstone Park

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing kicked off their 2020 season on a positive note at Hawkstone Park in England. Jed Beaton and Kay de Wolf finished fourth - and fifth overall respectively in a hotly-contested MX2 class.

A heavy storm travelled over the track in the morning, and the downpour turned the race surface into a muddy mess. Kay de Wolf acquitted himself well on debut in the MX2 class and posted the sixth fastest time, with his teammate Jed Beaton a spot behind.

Despite worsening conditions, the racing program continued. De Wolf launched well in race one, and formed part of the leading group going into the first corner. It was a battle for survival in the atrocious conditions, but De Wolf held onto a top three position for the majority of the race, only dropping to fourth near the end. Jed had a worse start, and battled to find a smooth rhythm. Nonetheless, he held it steady to finish seventh.

Both riders started well in the second race, and Jed soon slotted into second spot. He rode consistently, and fended off all attacks to finish second.  Despite a mistake during the race, Kay held his own in the illustrious company to finish seventh. Both riders narrowly missed the podium, finishing fourth and fifth respectively. The riders will line up at an international event at Lacapelle Marival in France next weekend.

Overall MX2 Hawkstone Park:

1 Tom Vialle 40 Pnt
2 Mikkel Haarup 40 Pnt
3 René Hofer 37 Pnt
4 Jed Beaton 36 Pnt
5 Kay de Wolf 32 Pnt
