Miro Sihvonen Takes a Fifth in Finnish Championship Event

Miro Sihvonen of the SKS Racing NL Husqvarna scored a top five finish in one of the heats of the opening round of the Finnish motocross championships. After a setback in the first heat that kept him down to tenth position, he regrouped in the second heat to finish in a strong fifth position.

It was a difficult event, because the hard track was rendered into a mudbowl by some heavy rains. Miro crashed in the first race, and his bike got stuck in the mud, which kept him down to tenth position. "I was on the point of abandoning the race, but then finally I managed ot extricate my bike from the mud, and managed to still work my way up to tenth position," Miro said.

The second race went much better. Miro did have a small impediment when a lapped rider stalled his bike in a rut which held Miro up, and prevented him from challenging for a higher position. Miro was seventh overall for the day, and will hope to improve on this at the next round at Tampere next weekend.
