Days after both Glenn Coldenhoff and Ben Watson stood on the Motocross of Nations podium, the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP squad returned to Grand Prix action in Germany today. The hard-pack hillside of Teutschenthal played host to the event and welcomed some passionate fans from across Europe. Jeremy Seewer joined Coldenhoff and Watson beneath the awning at the Grand Prix.

Seewer made yet another step forward at the Grand Prix of Germany, despite the illness that has restricted him since the beginning of the current campaign. A poor start made things difficult in the first moto. Twelfth was the position that he ended lap one in, but he moved all of the way up to eighth at the chequered flag. Seewer showed his true grit and determination in the second moto, as he ran in sixth for a majority of the moto before taking fifth on the final lap. Fifth was the spot that he secured in the overall classification too.

Coldenhoff had a day that was similar to that of his teammate, as the second moto was a step forward for him. The first moto was fairly uneventful; he slotted into seventh on lap two and finished there. A better start in the second moto gave him an opportunity to shine though, as he ran in third early on. There was a lot of knowledge that could be gained from that. Sixth was where he eventually finished in the moto, after getting tangled with a backmarker, as well as the overall classification.
 
Watson had a quiet ride in moto one, as he hit the finish line in thirteenth after starting in fourteenth, but he continued an impressive rookie season with a strong ride in the second moto. Watson settled into eighth early on and sat there quite comfortably, as he chased the established stars ahead of him for the duration. A 13-8 scorecard left him in eleventh overall at the Grand Prix of Germany. Two points separated him from a spot inside of the top ten.
 
Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP will return to The Netherlands now, before tackling the Grand Prix of France next weekend. Lacapelle-Marival is set to host the twelfth stop of the 2021 FIM Motocross World Championship. 

Jeremy Seewer: "It's definitely going forward, which is positive. It's going well physically. I feel good and I was able to make some improvements today. I know I am not in the top five where I know I should be in time practice, but it's going forward. I hope in a few GPs I will be more upfront and battling for the podium."

Glenn Coldenhoff: "In the end, it was a positive day. We did some testing last week and we have made some improvements, which I am very happy about. I still struggled a little bit in practice, but I think we still found a good set-up. I had two good starts, which is a really positive point. I showed good intensity in the second race and felt really good with the bike. It's a shame about the last 10 minutes of the race, somebody crashed in front of me and Pauls Jonass passed me and then Jeremy [Seewer] on the last lap. That was not the best, but I am okay with it. We made good progress and it's our first solid result, which I am happy about and I am looking forward to the rest of the season."

Ben Watson: "A pretty positive day. I didn't feel like I was 'wow' but I was solid, consistent and definitely making progress. I know I need to change ASAP when it comes to qualifying, because where I need to start I am too far out on the gate and it is making it difficult to get a good start. I kind of finished where I gated and it was a little bit follow the leader in both races, but still a solid result and I am pleased with that."
