Difficult MXGP of Lombardia for Conrad Mewse

Conrad Mewse was the sole representative for Hitachi KTM fuelled by Milwaukee at the penultimate round of the 2021 FIM Motocross World Championship. Mantova hosted the race, officially named the Grand Prix of Lombardia. The team has fond memories of Mantova, of course, as Mewse put his KTM 250 SX-F on the podium at the Motocross of Nations there just over a month ago.

Mewse was right in the thick of the battles in moto one – he desperately tried to work his way into the top ten after a mediocre start. Fourteenth was the ranking that he eventually achieved. Any hopes of improving in moto two were dashed by a subpar start, as he completed the first lap down in twentieth. Mewse made some progress, much like in moto one, but could only salvage a sixteenth at the finish line. Seventeenth is the spot that he occupies in the series standings.

Just one race remains on the 2021 FIM Motocross World Championship schedule now, that being the Grand Prix of Citta di Mantova. The event will be held on Wednesday, November 10. Mewse could claim sixteenth in the championship standings at that event.

Conrad Mewse: "A difficult day today. I didn't feel comfortable all day and that showed in my riding. Apologies to my team for the results today. It's not what we all work so hard for, going to try and make myself a little more comfortable for Wednesday and go again for the last round of the year."

Roger Magee (Hitachi KTM fuelled by Milwaukee Team Owner): "A tough day for the team, especially after the great experience that we had at Mantova at the Motocross of Nations. We know that Conrad can battle towards the front and look forward to rebounding on Wednesday."
